Addis Abeba - Dejazmach Oube's Residence - Campo da definire

Il giudice Kidan Blatta Haile Wolde viene internato per tredici mesi nel Dejazmach Oube’s Residence.

Questa è la sua testimonianza: "Nel novembre 1937 mi portarono dalla stazione radio alla prigione organizzata nella residenza di Dejazmach Oube. Era un luogo completamente insalubre, le condizioni igieniche erano terribili. Era pericoloso per la salute essere rinchiusi lì dentro.

Ci davano un bidone di latta che serviva come latrina. La puzza che emanava era terribile e distruggeva il nostro morale. In più, quando il bidone era colmo, gli italiani non facevano nulla. Solo la mattina ci davano l’ordine di portarlo fuori.

Sono rimasto in questo campo fino al dicembre del 1938. Durante quel periodo molte persone sono morte per le malattie e le condizioni causate dal sovraffollamento della prigione.” (Cfr. TKB1)

["In Hedar, 1930. I was taken from the wireless station prison and was brought to the prison which was situated in Dejazmach Oube's compound. This prison was badly infected by insanitary condition, and was unhealthy to live in.

More than this, they provided us with a tin to be used as a latrine in the living house, so the stinking of this was most terrible and detrimental to our morale. Furthermore, when this tin was filled the Italians used to ignore it. Then we were ordered to take this tin out each morning in turn when it was overflowing.

I stayed in this prison up to Tahasas, 1931. Whilst I was there very many people died from illness and the conditions caused by the overcrowding of the prison.] (Cfr. TKB1)
